| The Alto
Metauro is a land particularly fit for the white truffle “Tuber magnatum Pico”,
here are joined the 3 elements which make the truffle grow: the soil, the climate and the
right vegetable essences. The combination of these three elements is so perfect here that
the Altometaurense area Gives a rich production of truffles of great quality, they may
reach big size, even more than 1Kg. of weight. In this area you can also find the praised black truffle (Tuber Melanosporum Vitt), it can be found in periods different from when you can find the white truffle. The conditions of the soil have made this land a very important one for the truffle trade as well as a very economic activity, in fact many exhibitions and fairies are held in Autumn in many centres of Altometauro and of Alta Valle del Tevere. In Altometaro the most important exhibition is the “Mostra Mercato del Tartufo ”held in Sant’Angelo in Vado. The ability of the Trufflemen of this town is famous either for the searching and for the truffledogs training. In the truffle time our truffle dealers buy the truffles direcltly from the trufflemen everyday, this being a warrant either for the quality and for the price. |
